Track Season Awards:
Sub 5 (boys) or Sub 6 (girls) Minute Mile Club:
-
Definition: Any boy that runs 4:59.99 or faster for a mile (1600 meters counts as well), or girl that runs 5:59.99 or faster for a mile (1600 meters counts as well) will become members of the Sub 5/Sub 6 Minute Mile Club.

Award: T-shirt designating which mile club the runner has achieved.

Presentation: At the next team meeting after club membership is earned.
Meet Day Awards:
-
Definition: These are awards that runners earn based upon their performance at track & field meets. These awards include the following categories:
-
Medalist: athletes that finish 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in their respective events
-
Intestinal Fortitude: athletes that pass people in the last 100 meters (outkick an opponent)
-
Negative Nancy: athletes that run negative splits (first part of race vs. end of race)
-
Ralph Club: athletes that throw up during or at the end of a race
-
PR (Personal Record): athletes that set a new personal best
-

Award: A medal if the athlete is a medalist and/or a sucker for the other accomplishments.

Presentation: At the next team meeting after the accomplishment has occurred.
Varsity Letter
-
Definition: To earn a varsity letter an athlete must amass 30 points by the conclusion of the district track meet and these points can be earned in the following manners.

Experience: 15 points for 4 years of Track team membership

Hitting an Event Mark: 15 points for hitting an event mark
-
Attend 90% of Practices: 15 points for 90% attendance at track practices
-
Point at District/Conference: 15 points for scoring a point at the conference or district track meets

Award: Either a Willard W, if this is the athlete’s first varsity letter, or a chevron pin.

Team Awards
-
Definition: The four categories of team awards will be given to each of the following groups: varsity male, varsity female, JV male, and JV female team.
-
Top Sprinter: This will be determined by the highest number of points earned at track meets for sprinting events (100, 200, 400, 100 hurdles, 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, 4 x 100, 4 x 200, and 4 x 400) up through the district track meet.

Top Distance Runner: This will be determined by the highest number of points earned at track meets for distance events (800, 1600, 3200, and 4 x 800) up through the district track meet.

Top Field Event Athlete: This will be determined by the highest number of points earned at track meets for field events (long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault, shot put, discus, and javelin) up through the district track meet.

MVA (Most Valuable Athlete): This will be determined by the highest number of points earned at track meets for all events up through the district track meet.

Award: A certificate acknowledging what the athlete has achieved.
