Cross Country Season Awards:
Sub 5 (boys) or Sub 6 (girls) Minute Mile Club:

Definition: Any boy that runs 4:59.99 or faster for a mile (1600 meters counts as well), or girl that runs 5:59.99 or faster for a mile (1600 meters counts as well) will become members of the Sub 5/Sub 6 Minute Mile Club.

Award: T-shirt designating which mile club the runner has achieved.

Presentation: At the next team meeting after club membership is earned.
Meet Day Awards:
-
Definition: These are awards that runners earn based upon their performance at track & field meets. These awards include the following categories:
-
Medalist: athletes that finish 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in their respective events
-
Intestinal Fortitude: athletes that pass people in the last 100 meters (outkick an opponent)
-
Negative Nancy: athletes that run negative splits (first part of race vs. end of race)
-
Ralph Club: athletes that throw up during or at the end of a race
-
PR (Personal Record): athletes that set a new personal best
-

Award: A medal if the athlete is a medalist and/or a sucker for the other accomplishments.
-
Presentation: At the next team meeting after the accomplishment has occurred.
Varsity Letter
-
Definition: To earn a varsity letter a runner must amass 30 points that can be earned in the following manners.
-
Experience: 3 points per year of CC team membership (yes, junior high counts)
-
Recruiting: 15 points per recruit
-
A recruit is defined as a freshman that has never run CC before or a sophomore, junior, or senior that has never run CC at the high school level. In order for an athlete to count as a recruit they must remain on the CC team for 7 weeks of the CC season.

Attend All Meets: 15 points for perfect attendance at all CC meets from the Intra-Squad meet to the Conference meet
-
Attend 90% of CC Practices: 15 points for 90% attendance at CC practices
-
Qualify for Sectionals: 30 points for finishing in the top 30 at the district meet
-

Award: Either a Willard W, if this is the athlete’s first varsity letter, or a chevron pin.
-
Presentation: At the CC awards banquet on Tuesday, November 12.
Team Awards
-
Definition: The two categories of team awards will be given to each of the following groups: varsity male, varsity female, JV male, and JV female team.
-
Most Valuable Runners: This will be determined by the highest average finishing place (in other words closest to 1) for an individual that has competed in at least 75% of the cross country meets for a level of competition (varsity or JV) up through conference.

Most Improved Runners: This will be determined by the percentage difference between a runners’ first meet time and their season best time.
-

Award: A certificate acknowledging what the athlete has achieved.
-
Presentation: At the CC awards banquet on Tuesday, November 12.
